Historically early 20th Century bottlings for this product carry the

inception date as being 1359, bottlings from the 1970s onwards carry this start date as 1559.

Whether this change was a clerical error at some stage we don't know, but it is well documented that Armagnac was indeed in

production in the mid 1350s -1400, so Saint Vivant could easily have been one of those early producers.

At the earlier date Gascony/ Armagnac were at war with

Burgundy so that might explain the cross swords on the

badge, thereby lending substance to the earlier date profile.

 

The older bottlings of this product also have 1937 embossed 

on the bottle.
